I come off the pill Sunday just gone, I have been on it for 9 and half years. My husband and I are going to start our family, I was wondering how long it usually takes to full pregnant. My mum and sister fell within weeks of coming off the pill does the pattern usually run?

You can become pregnant after a few weeks of getting off the pill but it is recommended that you wait about three months before trying.

Most women do not get pregnant for 6-12 months after going off the BC pill. But some women are very fertile and get pregnant right away. There is no real way to tell without a lot of really expensive and unnecessary testing. Start practicing now and then enjoy the process. I would not worry about it until you have been trying for a year. Then you might want to see a specialist. My best friend was pregnant within 3 weeks of going off the pill, after 12 years on BC. It took my mother 7 months to get pregnant with me after only 5 years on BC. Good luck.

I have been off the pill since Dec. 10th, after 10 years on it, and still not pregnant. I am 3 days late, though, so....fingers crossed! I don't feel pregnant at all. Average length of time for most couples is 6-12 months, though, so be patient. I know it's hard! Good Luck.

The "rule of thumb" is that you should not try to conceive for at least 3-4 months after coming off the pill. Your body needs to get it out of your system completely.
After that, it is up to God.
If you don't have regular cycles within 3 months of no pill you may want to contact your doctor.
Go to the library and get a good book about conception. Education is the key.

I will be watching this question because you are basically describing me. I have also been on the pill for almost nine years and i have been off the pill for a month and a half now. We are also trying to conceive but my gynae and everyone else says its different with everyone. I know of people who forgot to take their pill and fell pregnant, so it should take that long to wear off. I hope you will be the bearer of good news soon...please email me mercia.links@gmail.com

People not on hormonal birth control take an average of 6 months, meaning 0-12 months is normal. Generally people coming off hormonal birth control can take a little longer, say 0-15 months. That doesn't mean it will take 15, and it doesn't mean it will take 0 either.

It certainly relies upon on the form of question. some that are tediously annoying or trite, OR hateful rants OR whilst each be conscious is misspelled (lyke omg so mi bff and me an my BF have been lyke all goin out an idk lyke omg .....) you be attentive to, those type LOL. I bypass those. yet i do no longer concepts analyzing by using a very long Q whether that's respectable or interesting. many of the Q's i answer anymore are no longer long although. yet short, humorous, and to the element. xD ?
