That is an excellent question. Hate can also be a "family value." Besides the generic absorbtion of a parent's bias, I still contend that children get much of their bigotry from churches that remain 1) patriarchal (women are lesser) 2) imagine "God" as white (other races are lesser) and 3) think God is mad at anyone who doesn't think like them (why else would any child not like Jews when he/she's never met one?)
If there is one huge source of strife that this country tries to pretend isn't there, it's religion. Look at Mel Gibson; first there was the whole anti-semitic thing, and then he made a movie making the Native Americans (Mayans) look like mindless monsters. Now tell me if you think he'd make such a movie about those kindly Christian Spanish conquistadors.

Good question. I would guess parents (unknowingly) want to mold their children into little clones of themselves.

I don't think it's deliberate. But people have prejudices and when the kids "break" the taboos in their parents' minds, the parents teach the kids to hate. If they didn't, they would be forced to change their life-long ideas of hate. No one thinks he/she is wrong.

Most parents want to develop their children in their own image. This includes everything in the childs life, not only hatred. One simple example is food. A child is fed what the parents like and expected to like it also.

Because they are full of hatred themselves.
