Hi guys! My senior prom is happening in about a month, and I have everything figured out except for my eye makeup. My dress is a full-length, black and white elegant number, and my skin tone and coloring is the same as my avatar. I'm planning on making my eye makeup the dramatic element of my look, and everything else is going to be pretty subdued. Any tips on something that's easy but still looks really great?

I've already spent a lot of money on my dress, shoes, tickets, etc., and I want to do my makeup myself to save money.

What you want to do is apply your make-up so that it flatters your eyes the most - you never want to try to match your make-up to your dress, big no no!
The general rule to make your eyes pop with shadows is to use a contrasting color:
Blue eyes - Brown and taupe shadows
Green eyes - Purple shadows
Brown eyes - Blue shadows
Then just use a white or very pale, soft shimmery color under your brow as a highlighter.
As far as blush, keep it light. A soft pink on the apples of your cheeks.
Also, because your dress is black and white, you could easily pull off red lipstick if you wanted to go for a fun vintage look. Google "red lipstick for me" or something, and you'll be directed to many Web sites that will help you pick out the right shade of red for you. Otherwise, to keep it simple, go with a red-tinted gloss.
If you're on a real budget, I would highly suggest Rimmel products. You can find them at most drugstores, and they're pretty good quality considering the price.
You'll look fabulous, don't worry. I did my own make-up for the prom, too because I needed to save money. You can't really screw it up as long as you follow these basic rules.

Last year I wore a black and white dress.... And I went to wal mart and got silverish white, and dark grey eyeshadow. I also bought a kind of pricey makeup applier (makes all the difference). I first shadowed my whole eye lid with white, then in the creases a more precise line of dark grey. Then, I took my pinky finger and smeared the grey out, until it was blended. I paried it with Candy Apple lipgloss and I looked like a movie star. Best of luck! My senior prom is in May!!! I am wearing Turquoise... ;)

Go to the mall and ask someone at Lancome or Clinique to help you pick some make up -
Your coloring to me sounds warm - so look for make up (if you don't want to spend top $)
to cool - so here are a few color ideas to look with your dress.
Do a light gray- for eyes - with a black eye liner
and stick with those tones (W, N) for a foundation [love a mineral powder it radiates natural/warmth and natural look]
Plum lip color/gloss -
blush pink tone (with a wine color to it).
Remember less is best with a pop of color -
try to get things you may wear again!

You should do a smokey eye if you want dramatic. It is easy to do, and no one will miss how your eyes pop that night. Experiment with the different kinds of smokey eyes on these websites. My personal favorite is Keira Knightly's look. It is first.

If you're getting your hair done, I would suggest letting them do your makeup as well. Senior prom only comes once, why not splurge a little? They can give you ideas and have more color options on hand than you would.

you could always go to a department store (i.e. dillards) at the mall and get your make-up done for free. that's what a lot of my friends did for our prom.
