depending on your technical abilities. All you have to do is run a draw test. I have seen it be as simple as the glove box or vanity mirror (sun-visor) not being fully closed-when it appears it is. Test the battery too, to verify it is fully charging.

This definitely sounds as if one of the wires or components is shorting to earth. One way to find out is to take out all the fuses and put a meter across between the fuse and earth a dead short will show as 0 however from what you say it will be a slow drain so one of the componants that should be off when stopped is still either on or allowing power to pass.

Try the curtasy light switches which opperate when the door is opened.

your car is not been charged so every time you go drive u need the power from the battery for starting and lights and so on.
the alternator has to be the problem. reason for not charging could be bad connections or frayed leads, other than that its the alternator itself. one way of finding out would be to start the car turn on the head lights at a wall up close and rev the engine, if the lights do not come brighter with more revs then its not charging, best of luck brian

I'm guessing there is a lot of miles on the car. Probably one of the wires on the wiring harness is wore through and is shorting out the battery. If you have a voltage tester. 2 -3 dollars at a autoparts store maybe even walmart. You can pop out each fuse and see if there is a voltage drain on each circuit. If you find one trace the wires lift them off of the body or metal parts and see if that stops the problem. the other problem is the wires that go between the battery and the fuse box carefuly lift them and see if any are rubbed through or pinched. If you find one wrap it with electrical tape and it may solve your problem.

You have a short circuit somewhere. Check every light bulb and electrical accessory to confirm they are all working correctly, any that don't could be the cause. Look also for damaged wiring or loose connections. The last time I had a problem like this it was because the windscreen wiper motor was burnt out but I have also had a faulty light socket that caused trouble too.

I would have a battery and charging system (alternator) test done at a good shop like your Ford or Mazda dealer.
