Can I put my aloe plant outside? right now it it about 40 degrees outside, but when it gets warmer, I plan on putting it outside. Will it be ok? Should I keep it out of direct sunlight or in sunlight?

As to not shock the plant too much I would recommend putting it out in the daylight hours (bring it in at night) for three days to get the plant used to the outdoors.

You said it was 40 degrees now...I didn't know if that was the day-time high temperature or the night low.

I have kept my Aloe & Cactii outside (I'm in Zone 5) from the summer-fall until the temperature is expected to fall below 35 degrees.

I think so, I live in North Florida and my aloe plants stayed outside all winter, as the low winter tempertures are in the High 20s and 30s here.

I had mine out all last summer but not in direct sunlight and it did well. Just make sure there will be no more hard frost or freeze before u put it out.

You can put it outside as long as the temp stays where it's at and not lower.
Aloe will do well in shade or sunlight.
