Syria and Iran are sovereign countries....they both have also bit off a little more than they can chew. The USA sitting with them lets them back down gracefully, acting like they actually won some kind of concession through talk and also letting the US dictate what they need to do in order to save their own asses from the rest of the world (contrary to popular belief the US has no interest in invading either Iran or Syria, there are more political ways to take care of them)

Because, however much you may hate it, Iran and Syria are players in that region. It is short sighted to ignore them. The alternative is to go on with the killing for the next 50 years. The current strategy is not working so it is time to try something else. There has to be something better than the attrition that is going on.

You may say, they are terrorists, but this is a pragmatic approach. They have influence and never forget, the state of Israel was led for many years by ex-terrorists. If you doubt that, just look for references to the Stern gang and other terrorist organizations of the Israelis.

Because Syria were always the biggest supporter for the Arabic Iraqi, Syria supported Iraqi people against Saddam when USA were giving him more weapons and mass destruction, Syria along history was able to make very good relation ship with all Iraqis, Sunni, Shia, Kurds, etc.

and Syria think that if she had the chance, she can make peace by asking all Iraqi people represent to meet, and talk...and they will accept that, cause it's from their friend Syria, not from their enemy USA.

Because that's what all the Democrat, whining, no-war-for-any-reason, terrorist negotiators want and they're the majority in Congress now. It was part of the Iraq study they everyone was screaming Bush should follow. I bet it works out just great, too. What do you think?

Oddly enough, the troop surge was part of the study, as well. I wonder why it is that very few Democrats were screaming for that to occur. Now it looks like it's starting to have some positive effect and the Dems want immediate withdrawl. They are desperate for us to lose this thing so they can pin it on Bush and maintain power for years to come.

I would say it is a front. Hitler sat with Chamberlain and later cursed him and attacked England. He sat with Stalin and later invaded Russia. Even his ally Mussolini was referred to as a buffoon.

Only for looks, so Bush can say "See I tried."

You can't win the war on terror with talk. Bush knows it.
