It's a wild, untamed horse. That's why they call people who strike out on their own "Mavericks"...because they are untamed loners who go their own way, rather than follow the herd.

There is a car called a maverick. I think Ford makes it, not sure on that. A maverick is the term for a stray calf. It wanders away from the herd and must be driven back. It is also a term that is used to refer to people that go their own way, usually against the norm.

A maverick is a horse. It also was a vehicle manufactured by FORD...in the 70's.
