from a mathematical point of view, technically the coastline of uk is infinite, it sounds bizarre but its because the coastline isn't straight, it dips in and out so many times so calculating the coastline is basically impossible.

if you draw straight lines so you do not have all these ins and outs then the coastline is approximately 12,500 km or 7,760 miles
