I have a friend in Miami, Fl that ownes a construction business. They used to have a contractors license but they lost it. They don't know what to do. He is still thinking about running the business. I want to talk him out of doing this. Does anyone know what the punishment would be if someone found out what he would be doing?

A monetary fine. Contractors are to be licensed to provide Protection for the consumer. Also, it makes them responsible for the work they provide. I suppose he should get in touch with the people who took away his license and find out what he can do at this point.

PRISON comes to mind! If he does something that eventually goes sour and government gets involved, his goose is cooked! Especially if personal injuries becomes an issue! I would advise him/her they are playing with fire!!!!!!!!!

At the very least, the authorities will shut him down, at worst, prosecution and jail time.
