Passion, patience, determination, compassion, and the unwavering faith to students that they can do it despite the things they do to that teacher and despite first impressions. Have you ever watched the Ron Clark Story? I think it's great.

To actually be more concerned that the kids learn the prescribed material and less with their unionized contracts; their weeks off, start and stop times of work etc.

To spend the time to ensure each child learns the material by whatever style that particular child learns with.

Also, to be a good teacher their performance should be measured on how well the children learn. A lot of teachers just let kids "skate" through class and do not challenge them. This should stop.

A good teacher can really get to the kids level and teach them what she knows. Also to be able to converse with parents. I have worked in the school system a long time and there are many teachers who have, not even one ounce, of "grown up" skills. They are always on the kids level. And that is great but we do need to be adults here. LOL

Really really i think you need to be involved, caring, and supportive. Kids go thru an awful lot of things today and they need someone they can go to besides their parents.

One that isn't bias. One that will give every child an opportunity to answer and be the best they can be. One that is kind and understanding but at the same time stern. One that a child isn't afraid to raise their hand when they need to ask a question or for help. One that at the end of the day all kids will say "I love my teacher".

The ability to teach. Not lecture, but teach.

To get people to understand and want to learn more.

To get people to grow as a person.

To get people to respect the subject material enough to want to learn more on their own time.

The ability to learn yourself.

No ego!

To be able to explain whatever you are teaching right, and endless support of the children you are teaching. Patience is a virtue.
