a smock is usually a pull over, a tunic is a wrap around. functionality is pretty much the same. for some, there really is no difference other than who wears what.

Lengthwise none whatsoever.
Style wise yes.
A smock is something that is gathered just below the bustline.
And a flary kind of skirting that follows down to cover your stomach and your rear.
A tunic, however, is a top but longer in length which can be fitted to flatter the waist and the hips.

Smock is usually over something - can be worn over pants or a skirt.
Also in art classes, they had us wear smocks to protect our clothes from the paint and clay workings.
Tunic is usually longer and is many times worn over leggins or just over a blouse - sort of jumper type.
GOD bless us always.

If I am thinking right, I think a smock has a band of elastic across the top and is of a more floaty material.
