Usually no it does not require extra time. Unless there are some medical problems afterwards. Check with your ob to be sure though.

I'm due with #4 in July and I am choosing a section as well. I am also opting to have a tubal done at the same time. From what I was told, recovery is a little more painful but the hospital stay is the same.
I'm sorry that the OP was so nasty, I've been getting a lot of slack from choosing to have a c/s. It's funny how people jump to judge when they have no idea why it's happening.
Good luck!

From the consent forms I just read and signed. It stated that I may have to stay one extra day if I have my tubes tied with my C-section. But usually you stay 3 days in the hospital after a c-section anyway. It really depends on how well you tolerate the procedure and birth. Are you sure you can have a c-section on request? Most insurances only pay for them if they are only medically necessary. I would make sure to check with your Insurance company and also find out it they will pay for the tubal at the same time or do you have to wait 6 wks to have it done after the birth of the baby. Good luck.

I had 4 c-sections and had my tubes tied after #4. The hospital stay is the same, but you are in a little more pain afterwards. I remember being in quite a bit of pain and saying to my doc that I wasn't in that much pain after #3. His response, "You technically had 2 surgeries and we had to move everything around to get to the tubes, of course it will hurt more". Makes sense, huh? Good Luck.

Well trying to ignore the fact that you have chosen a c-section, which I am going to assume you understand the risks of (even though generally women don't).
No there is no recovery time added from a tubal. In fact if you have a tubal later it is outpatient surgery.

My wife did the same thing.....the stay was not extended.....and it saved tons of money to get it done at the same time.

How can you "decide" to have a c-section? I thought that it was aonly if its necessary thing? I had to have one, I didnt want one but I had to, my bones were too small, I dont think that you can choose to have one unless there is a reason why you cant deliver vaginally.
