I'm sure there are some home schooled kids who are excellent, but I was slightly involved with a case in a local university where a home schooled kid was suing the university to try to force it to give her a full scholarship to an elite program. She had a home school diploma with highest honors. Ever since she was a little kid her mom had given her an A+ on every single paper she had ever done. They had saved all the papers!
So, she wanted the scholarship but the university said they could not admit her without SATs or ACT. But her mom said that she was not good on standardized testing so it was unfair to ask her to do those tests and they should just give her the $35,000 scholarship,
What a deal!!!!
Unfortunately for the mom and her A+ daughter, the university won the case and she was not admitted.
