I hate to be too graphic but I am 18 weeks along and with my 1st pregnacy never experinced hemroids. I am sure that I have internal hemroids now b/c I am getting blood when I have to strain to go to the bathroom. That is the only time too. So I know it's not something more serious. Any suggestions for what I can do to make this go away? I am getting a few wipes of bright red blood if I have to go and hold it in or am constipated. Serious answers only so side comments. This is embarrasing enough.

It may not be hemroids, it may just be from straining to go to the bathroom. Eat lots of green veggies and get yourself a bran cereal like Kellogs special K (you could even get the one with red berries). Eat a banana a day. You are probably just not getting enough fiber. #2 can become quite interesting when you are pregnant. Later in your pregnancy it will get easier. Constipation is very normal in the first few months. You just have to eat stuff that is going ot make it easier! I went through this(constipation and little blood when wiping) while I was pregnant and I have no hemroids, so that is why I think it might just be that you are not getting enough fiber. Good luck and Congratulations!

The doctors will tell you they dont want you to strain so you need to fix the constipation right away. More fiber and possibly some kind of suppository stool softner. The straining and pressure cause the Hemoriods. I never got them with this pregnancy I have now, but when I was pregnant a few years back I got external ones that didnt go away even after the pregnancy ended and had them removed. Just the regular Tucks pads, stool softeners, and good fiber diet was all I could do during the duration. Its just one of those badges of mother hood. Soaking is a nice warm, bath of salts and oatmeal helped mine, though I dont know about internal ones. Always consult your doc before taking any medications while pregnant.

I got my first ones during my pregnancy with my 2nd child and after the brith of my 3rd child. They were awful! Constipation factor doesn't help either. Try to stay off your feet as much as you can, When they got really bad I used preparation H suppositories which helped unbelievably fast and well. Also, using witch hazel soaked make up pads help (and they are cheaper than hemmy pads). Keep the witch hazel in the fridge as well.
I'm sorry you have to go through that, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I'm 22 weeks pregnant and dreading their appearance

Seems to me the best thing you can do for yourself is to consume more high fiber food. That will perhaps make you go more frequently and easily but it's better than increasing the size and number of hemorrhoids. Do your best not to be in a situation where you have to hold it.
If the problem persists, perhaps your doctor can recommend a stole softener that's safe to use during pregnancy.
The best of luck to you.

Eat more fiber like whole wheat bread or apples most veggies have a high fiber content. Then you won't strain and the hemmies will calm.. you can use Preparation H to shrink them while your pregnant. Hemmroids are called varicose veins of the rectum.. I am not sure why you can't see them from where your sitting!!

being constipated is the worst thing for a hemmorhoid. You need to eat a high fiber diet to keep everything moving. That will allow it to heal properly.

If you're only 18 weeks I'd talk to your doctor about this. I only got one during delivery, not during pregnancy, but as your belly grows it's gonna put pressure on that spot.

stool softener(ask you doc which one) and fiber is good like the others said. it's not serious enough to take presciption meds, at least in my opinion. it's simply b/c you're straining. or you can do like i did. i think i drank at least a gallon of water a day. not b/c i was trying to stay hydrated or anything. i was just always thirsty. and plus you're supposed to drink alot of water during pregnancy. i never had to strain. seriously get that checked out. straining is not good for your baby.

yes this is normal, like everyone always says ( which I know your tired of hearing ) each pregnancy is different. If the bleeding does not stop soon, you may want to get in touch with your doctor and get a stool softner. Sometimes this helps, or if it continues a area may need to be cauterized to stop bleeding.

hemroids are completely normal when you are pregnant. it is from the strain of carrying the extra "weight" around. they usually disappear after you have the baby. mention it to you ob next time you go in though.
