I am trying to read the book called the secret and I am having a hard time with it . I find it so hard to believe that just by wanting and thinking something will make it come to you . Has anyone out there ever tried practicing this and what were the results .

I am logical and a realist, I don't believe one can get what they want by just sitting and dreaming about it, nothing falls from the sky, you have to work hard for it.

I haven't read the book, but saw a brief summary of the process. "Ask, Believe, Receive" That about right?

Let me kind of give you the 411 of how this really works.

1) "Ask" is about setting goals.... Finding something you want out of life.

2) "Believe" - The main obstacle for many of us getting something we want is what we believe. If you believe you aren't deserving or worthy or that life is never going to let you get something, you generally don't see or take those opportunities that will lead you to your goal. Wishing for something is not enough. You must believe you can have it, so it becomes a reality in your mind.

3) "Receive" has to do with the opportunities that come along. When you've decided on a goal and you believe you can attain it, when opportunities come along you are able to see them and pursue them toward your goal.

I can tell you that just asking and believing are key ingredients. However, if someone thinks all they have to do is sit down with a picture of what they want, wishing and believing it will drop into their lap, they are in for a VERY LONG WAIT.

"The secret" is all about goal setting, creating the system of belief in oneself that is self-fulfilling not self-defeating, and accepting the opportunities that come leading to your goal.

Sorry I couldn't save you the price of the book.

I don't believe it works just by wanting one thing to get it automatically. It needs more than just wish to have it: hard work especially, positive thinking and a lot of ambition to get what you want. I heard about the movie and sounds crap to me. Maybe the author of that book was too bored one day and thought of doing little bit of "timepass philosophy" and fools are buying it to make him rich and really wasting time thinking about that topic.
