Hi, I have a Desktop and a Laptop connected in Ad-Hoc mode. The Desktop has a Netgear PCI adaptor and the Laptop is an acer with an in-built adaptor. I've just got them connected and they're working fine but they never connect better than 11Mbps.

The Netgear Adaptor says that it supports upto 54Mbps and the signals are all fine. They're both b/g adaptors and so i'm at a loss as to what the problem is. Any help will be appreciated!

Arprince, if you understood what ad-hoc mode was you would know that he has two computers cobbected together wirelessly without using a router.

Ad-Hoc mode specs state that the fastest speed available in Ad-Hoc mode is 11Mb/s.

You router's wireless standard is Wireless-B (max at 11 Mpbs). Therefore, even if you have an Wireless-G adapter, you won't be able to get 54Mbps since your router cannot transmit and receive at that speed.

You need to replace your router with a Wireless-G standard. No other way around it.

OR, you may have configured your router to transmit at Wireless-B only. If this is the case, go into the admin page of your router and change the wifi standard to "MIXED' or "BOTH".

@TABA:
Yes you are correct. I totally missed the ad-hoc part. And yes, Ad-hoc wifi networks are also limited only to Wireless-B (11 Mbps).
