if you just want to remote to a specific computer you can log into the router and forward port 3389 to the ip of the computer of your choice. Normally it would ask for something to this effect : Destination - 192.168.0.xxx (computer you want to connect to) - port 3389 - Gateway 192.168.0.1(or whatever the ip of the router is). You put these 3 entries in the routing or port forwarding(every router is a little different) section you will be back in action. Personally I would change the 3389 port to something else but that requires working in the registry on the destination computer wouldn't suggest for the novice

You will need to port forward port number 3389 to the computer that you want access to. Be aware that the remote desktop protocol is vulnerable to a man in the middle attack, you really should vpn in to the router then establish the remote desktop, much safer. If you want more information on how to setup the connection post the make and model of the router that you just got.

You probably had ports forwarded on the old router. You will need to forward TCP port 3389 to that PC to enable Remote Desktop to communicate over the router.

I bet the new router includes a Firewall ... and (quite right) by default it won't allow external access to the Companies PC ...

I also bet that you were not the only one to access the Accounts daily - have you lost any important Clients / Contracts / Tenders lately ? ... perhaps you should consider doing an Audit ...
