I have injured my back after a car accident. I want to take up yoga or pilates to get back in shape while healing my back. Which do you suggest I should do to start off?

Go with pilates, especially because of your injury. Pilates will help strengthen your core to alleviate your back pain and help your overall posture while stabilizing your spine.
Hope you get well soon. :)

Neither. I would get a list of Doctor approved exercises for the type of back injury you suffered. It is to easy to re-injure your back.

After you follow the Doctors exercises for 3-6 months, then you might be ready to get into more mainstream exercises.

Been there, injured my back, re-injured my back, and I never want to go through that again.

GOOD LUCK!
