I put a saucepan in the bottom of the oven to heat up some leftover veggies. After 10 minutes I carefully wrapped a cloth around one hand to lift up the lid and check them. They needed a shake and I just grabbed the handle with the other hand without thinking. I had a burn across my whole palm that took a week to heal.

I was trying to make some fairy cakes while the kids were in the kitchen making rice crispie cakes. They were messing around, as kids do, flicking rice crispies at each other and eating more of the mixture than they were putting in the cake cases. Anyway, in all the kerfuffle I forgot to put the flour in my cake mixture. So when they came out of the oven they looked a little like mini greasy pancakes. yuck!

I wanted to cook chicken in the oven and the only available pan I had was a cookie sheet. The grease from the chicken fell on the element which caught it on fire. .er.. I put it out with a 5lb bag of flour. Now my guy is always asking me if we are having chicken flambe' again... cause the oven never was totally clean and every time I bake in it it smokes a bit :-/

Boy do I have some stories for you! My brother likes to try to make deserts alot. But he sucks. One time, we tried making chocolate covered bananas, which because something that looked like frozen **** in a milksicle. He then tried making chocolate chip cookies once, but didn't follow the recipe right, and made 1 mm thick frisbee cookies.

Oh man, mine was sooo stupid. Wasn't painful, though. I was making chili and yakking to hubby at the same time when I accidentally dumped a ton of basil and oregano in it. I called it chilghetti and I had to eat it to prove it wasn't really that bad. It was. Ew. Hubby has never let me live that one down. Still teases me every time I make chili, "Do I have to hide the basil and oregano?"

I spilled some hot oil while moving a pan off the burner and ended up throwing it, and the contents, across the kitchen. It was just a shock reaction.
That took a while to clean up, and I lost my breakfast.

I was making pasta and turned on the wrong electric burner-soon started to smell something burning/set the alarm off. Someone had left the iron cooling on top of the stove and its plug was laying across the burner I turned on. Of course, the one where my pot of pasta was, was ice cold!

that sounded awful.. I broke my leg at a kids B'day party and doctors laughed cause of my elder age out skating. But the cooking part was I hit a BBQ grill knocking food & fire everywhere.
