Yes.

Roughly a quarter of 16-25 drivers are uninsured, as are many people of course from other age groups. To offset the risk, insurance companies charge the rest of us well over the odds.

The surplus is supposedly put into a fund to help out those poor people like yourself who get f*cked over by the unscrupulous toerags who drive uninsured (some of whom, statistically, are probably reading this).

But guess what? You don't automatically get a pay-out; in fact in most cases you don't get a penny unless you undertake a civil prosecution, and the fear of losing and having to meet the costs puts almost everyone else off.

So the insurers have a slightly larger Christmas party, re-run their adverts during prime time and eat out every night whilst you're on the phone to a call-centre in Mombasa trying to explain for the third time that Renault really is a make of car.

I feel for you.

The police won't give a toss either - unless of course the incident happens to have been caught on a "safety" camera in which case they can assist without leaving the station, something they're increasingly reluctant to do these days.

If you got the Third Party's name and address and it's a young driver you may get somewhere by informing his or her parents that you're about to sue their child.

Failing that, hire somone to go round and poo in the driver's slippers. It won't fix your car but you'll feel a bit better.

Their is a scheme, set up by the insurance company's to get you back 90% of your loss, ask them, its a independent group all the insurers chip into.Takes about a year to get your money, but its better than nothing.Sorry can't remember the groups name.
