There is some plasticine type modelling clay called fimo which you can bake in your oven. Check out this website for more info. but you should be able to get hold of it from most craft stores. I don't know where you are based but if in the UK the Range stores stock it. hope this helps

most definitely.
I sculpt and 'Ive never used a kiln.
you can use air dry clay.
You can look at different types of air dry here-

I buy mine at Peal arts and crafts, but I think they also have it available at some crafts stores such as Micheal's and A.C.Moore.
The only thing is when working with it is you have to remember to keep it moist while sculpting.just spraying it with water now and then will help. And between sittings, you need to wrap it up in a wet rag and tape a plastic bag around it , to keep it from drying out. don't leave t for too long at a time without checking on it because t can grow mold if left too long. Have fun!

Eberhardfaber make fimo and other modelling clays. Some need to be baked in the oven some just need to air dry. Good art supply shops will stock various brands and types of modelling clay.

Yes there is. It's more expensive per pound than your regular low/ high fire clay. Check out laguna clay website and look for non-firing clay under supplies. You can also try Sculpty clay; you'll need a oven if you want your pieces to harden though :P

Fimo clays bake hard in the oven but are expensive. Air dry clays are o.k. but not very durable. Modeling clay has oil in it so it never dries out.
You may want to check in your area to "rent" kiln space and use "real" clay. You can do more with it and it is very durable once fired.
Good luck.

Absolutely. There's a fine quality clay that holds amazing detail called Sculpey and comes in at least 100 colors. Find it at most art supply stores.
Careful, it can shatter like porcelain after baked in your oven.
