people in their 40's who get married are more mature they know what they want and are set in their ways, having a baby in their 40's is in fact another story there are to many things that could go wrong with a baby for instance high risk of baby being born with down syndrome, so its not a good idea;
Who has the greatest risk of having a baby with Down syndrome?
Parents who have already had a baby with Down syndrome, mothers or fathers who have a rearrangement involving chromosome 21, and mothers over 35 years old are at greatest risk. The risk of Down syndrome increases with age, from about 1 in 1,250 for a woman at age 25, to 1 in 1,000 at age 30, 1 in 400 at age 35, and 1 in 100 at age 40. However, about 80 percent of babies with Down syndrome are born to women who are under age 35, as younger women have far more babies.

Getting married? Sure. I'm happy for them.
Having kids? No. Sorry, I don't agree. Can you imagine being 60 with a teenager in the house? My God! People can do whatever they want, but in MY opinion it's not a good idea. Health reasons as well. When I see news stories about women 50 or even 60 having babies it turns my stomach.
If they want to have kids that badly at 40+ I suggest they look to adopt a kid in the 5-10 age range. These kids are much more difficult to place then babies.

My thoughts are that everyone should get married if they want to and they are of legal age. Many elderly ladies that attend church with my mother have been married 2 or 3 times within their circle of elderly friends. But at their age, it's just for the company. Being married in your 40's is much better than adultery.

Thats fine. Some people don't find anyone who they truly love before a certain age, but if they find it, go for it. Having children at that age can be a little dangerous though, so you have to think about the risks and if it is even possible.
But even younger people have trouble conceiving. I am 20 and am having problems with my fertility. I cannot carry a baby to term.

I am thirty seven (almost 38) and have a six month old little boy, my husband (of three years) is almost 40. Both of us are on our second marriage. We are happier than we have EVER been in our lives!!! I think it is great, and if both people are up for it, then it is a beautiful thing!
