Were you on antibiotics when you were sick because that can make BC less effective?

Were you on antibiotics or did you miss any of your pills or did you take your pills at a different time while you were sick? If so, yes, there is a possibility you are pregnant. It is also a possibility that being sick affected your cycle. Please note that HPT's are only 50% accurate when you get a negative (where a positive is 99%).
BC pills will not affect the results of a HPT so I would suggest waiting another week and take another test. If you cannot wait a week, try getting a more sensitive test, like "first response". Good Luck!

Some antibiotics can cancel out the pill but this is rare. Wait a few days and do another test or go to the doctor for a blood test. It's possible your pregnant but not likely.

Anytime you miss a pill you are at risk of becomming pregnant. If you miss one pill you should take it as soon as you remember and take the next pill at the regular time (even if you take 2 at once)
You should have had your period even if you missed a pill. I always had spotting after missing one pill.
But if you were really really sick, you migh have thrown your body all off.
You should go to the doctor and get checked out.

This is not unusual. Your illness could delay the onset of your period. If you're 7 days over due, you'd have a positive test if you were preg. If you don't get in a few more days, make an appointment with your doc.

i say call your Dr and make an appt or go to a clinic. Getting pregnant on the pill can put you at higher risk for a tubal pregnancy. I got pregnant with my 3rd child while on the pill. He's fine but they got me in for an ultrasound right away to make sure he implanted in the right place. A tubal pregnancy can also produce negative pregnancy tests.
Good luck

Unless you were on antibiotics, illness shouldn't change the effectiveness of your pills. The illness may delay your period though. Try not to stress too much, it will only delay the period further. Best of luck.

You'll know within the week.
Most of those tests require you to be two weeks past your period, so a proper amount of the HCG can be measured. Some claim to do it within 5 days (you might want to check the brand you bought).
Be patient...time will tell one way or the other...

Were you put on antibiotics when you got sick? They will usually cancel out the birth control and a backup method is needed.

Doctors say to avoid intercourse if you felt sick (vomiting or diarheea) because the pill is no longer effective.
