and countless other little things ,not mentioning how much better it would be for our kids . as well as having less time to spend nurturing their family.would it be better for moms to stay home instead of working?????

i would say that depends on finances. i would rather she stay home, but i could afford it easily. not everyone can. i would rather our children be raised by mommy. not a nanny. in the first few years of a child's life this is especially important.

while it would be fun to spend all day with my kid and I would like that option
1. I take the train it costs $57 a month. I don't have a car.
2. I wear clothes whether I am at work or not...the same clothes
3. daycare costs $40 a day, I earn much more than that
4. I eat lunch whether I am at work or not...the same lunch
so no way could I "save" money by quitting work. I earn more than it costs to work. I'd love to be able to afford to stay all day with my kid. But I have to pay the mortgage and the gas and the electric and buy food and I have to earn my health insurance for us both.

Well if staying at home doesn't drive you crazy and you have a husband that is able to provide with a single income family then you could stay home. But you should be married and not shacking up b/c what happens if things go bad and you have been relying on him and he just decides he had enough. Then what? Just make sure you have a good back up plan.

If you can get by on one income it is the best thing in the world.
