yes its possible to love someone, but if there is no response for that many years, there is a good chance that they won't, and your wasting your life waiting on something that may never happen. we can't put our lives on hold waiting for a dream, because that person may be in another relationship, have a new life, and just not be interested in us.

No. You are delussional. You are wasting your time. Find somebody who has a good character and attitude and who wants you.
What you are describing is a juvenile crush, not mature "love". Love implies understanding, and you don't seem to understand that if somebody isn't reciprocating, they aren't interested.
You're in love with your imagination's version of them.
