The answer depends in part on what form of dance you're interested in. Many forms have been around long enough to have developed formal schools, and professional instruction is the way to go. The problem is that there are a lot of people teaching who aren't qualified, and they'll teach you some "cool moves" and bad technique. This is a bigger problem with newer forms of dance, especially "street" dances, that have no generally recognized correct way to do things, or a governing body or recognized syllabus, and it's a crap shoot, but still worth trying. Good dancers are all trained dancers, so your best bet is lessons, just be careful from whom you take them.

hello, i am 14 years old, and have been dancing for around 10 years.
Firstly, decide what type of dancing you would like to do. Disco, jazz, modern, tap, ballet...
if you are not sure, then it is best to do a bit of research on the interenet of what each dance is. (if you want more info from me email me shoequeen14k) However, if you are unsure, then it is best just to go with whatever your local dance company runs.
Their should be several dance schools in your area, so just ask around and find out. Also i dont know how old you are...it may be harder to find dance lessons for older people.
If you seriously have done loads of research and asked everyone if they know of a dancing place, then it is best to try to teach yourself.
Copy dance videos, buy simple dance dvds to begin with. you could use youtube to find different routines, or just make one up.
Dances such as ballet and tap are very hard to do at home, beacuse theya re very technical dances, and you will not know what to do or what music to do it to!

Good lcuk! sorry i could not be more help, and just for the record, dancing ROCKS!

Well if you want to do Ballroom, take classes. BUT if it is for fun, tape music videos and watch them, and learn them as you go along, so if you miss a step, you could always pause it or rewind. Otherwise ''feel'' the music, i know it might sound lame, but it really works! Close your door in your room and crank the volume up (not too loud! he he!) Listen to the beat and start moving your feet and hips. Then take it from there! Maybe you could even get some friends together and help each other?! Good luck!

dancing comes from your soul. theres no specific way to dance. dance is whatever you make it. just feel the beat and get crunk wit it and there isn't no tellin what you'll do. if you want to learn a specific way to dance join your church dance team (if there is one) or get on the computer and research the subject on dancing on dance groups nearest you.
