I suppose it's all according which style you nod or wink in really and if you nod AND wink at the same time do they cancel each other out??

To me a nod just means 'hi', that you are acknowledging that you are noticing the other person is there. A wink is a sign of flirtation. To get the other person's attention, that you are interested to get to meet them.

well...it depends of the person you nodded or winked. if it was a girl, you should have winked. if it was a man, well...it's better to nod it was a man.
