There are tons of other sites out there if you do a web search but that is my favorite as it is simple and straight to the point. If you would like a forum where you can ask people questions and get help then this if my favorite for bettas, http://www.fishforums.net/

No but I can give you a few pointers. Don't put betta's in the same bowl or tank. Bettas breathe air from the surface of the water so you will not need to supply any air to them. They prefer still water. They originate from Thailand. The big pretty ones you see with long fins are the males. Females are smaller with short fins. If you plan to breed them you can put a male and female together. The male will build a bubble nest for the eggs to be laid in. Once the eggs are laid remove the female. I won't get to long winded since I didn't really answer your question. I am sure any of the sites that the other people suggest will be able to help you further. Bettas are fun to have! Good luck!

Betta's do have a set of lungs, but they still mostly get their oxygen from the water. In the wild they often live in brackish water so that explains why they can exist in a bowl of still water. They are as easy to care for as a gold fish. I keep mine in a large canister type container with a cover that doesn't fit on tight. He has glass gloopers in shades of blue on the bottom and it has a small peace lily just sitting in there. I feed him 3 pieces of Betta food once daily and change his water once a month. When I change water I only use bottled water(gallon size) and put in a drop of start right. The start right helps protect him from problems due to the water change. His tank gets indirect sunlight for a short time each day the sun is out. Sometimes in the evening I will turn on a small table lamp that is next to him. He seems to like this as he swims around looking at everything.

This forum has GREAT information on how to keep a happy and healthy betta. If you ever have a problem with your betta or if it gets sick, there is almost always someone on to answer you. They are friendly and give you the RIGHT information, unlike many petstore employees.
