In rural areas there is ALWAYS a desperate need for cheap housing for those who were BORN in the area, have family in the area and want to stay in the area. But can NOT afford to buy anything - in my village the prices to buy accommodation START at £250,000 and that's for a run down two up two down with NO parking that needs a further £200,000 in renovations (how meny first time buyers can afford that).

The houses are normally half rented and half bought - to begin with you will buy half and rent the other half from a Housing Association.

Local needs housing is usually aimed at getting people off the council housing lists. I'm sure it would apply to local people who cannot afford to buy their own home - young families etc. I doubt if you would qualify if you already have a mortgage.
