I am a 52 year old volunteer Vietnam wartime veteran! I live in Orlando Florida i came here with a job & money! Life here has been nothing but a nightmare! I had my union job stolen out from under me via nepotism. This area is overwhelmed with cheap labor immigrants i can not find work? I have written my representative government numerous times & tried to utilize state veterans workforce reps for job placement. Ignored by the politicans,run-around by vet reps!

Why people are not organizing to end Representatve government baffles me! Replace it with well managed employee's subjected to at will firing! Give ultimate rule & control to the legal Citizen majority legally by amendment of the constitution. True direct consenses Democracy!

Due to the overwhelming belief that heterosexual, white, nondisabled, males are somehow "privileged" and have an advantage over anyone else...you are pretty much screwed. There are absolutely no programs in place that make sure that you get a fair shake in life.

Only those that are in a minority status get the benefits of making sure that their needs are met.

Dont' expect any help in the form of state assistance either. Again, that is only for the "disenfranchised".

Yup....isn't a PC world great?

EDIT TO ADD---

They won't have it. There is a reason that those that run for office (presidency) must have upwards of $30 mil to run. They have the power and they will be damned if they have to share it with us.

It's the same people being recycled in all offices. Very rarely do we get "common people" in office, and when we do it's not long before they are having lobbyist shove money in their pockets. And so, the cycle begins again.

It doesn't help that people are hellbent on voting for only one party either. People don't realize that we pretty much have an oligarchy. (come on Bush...Clinton...Clinton... Bush...Bush...now some want yet ANOTHER Clinton...for crying out loud!!!) All of the people in Washington are on the same team. Sorry to say...they are not playing to win for us. With all the discrepancies within our electorial process, it more than likely won't change anytime soon.

Well the best example of our "do nothing" government is Hurricane Katrina. Let's review.........

* Category 5 hurricane bearing down on New Orleans, and nobody does ANYTHING.

* The mayor doesn't issue an evacuation of the city until the NIGHT BEFORE Katrina hit.

* Not a single part of the city's 22-page evacuation was implemented (including the utilization of school buses for those without transportation)

* After the storm neither the mayor or the governor could decide if they needed Federal assistance or not.

* The governor of Louisiana waited days before dispatching National Guard troops to New Orleans.

* The mayor and the governor then blamed President Bush.

* Upon realizing that the state and local governments CLEARLY didn't know what the "F" they were doing, the Federal government did little to help.

* Today we spend BILLIONS on rebuilding Iraq while 80% of New Orleans looks just as it did in the weeks following Katrina.

Yeah.............I'd say we have a do nothing government filled with politicians who will do and say ANYTHING to get your vote. Then do nothing once they're in office.

Puling pathetic partisan politics has paralyzed our government at all levels (not to mention politicial correctness). If you aren't part of an organized loud special interest group the pols aint gonna pay any attention to you. Sort of like the big bankers in the capital one commercial making fun of and abusing the small business guy. You have my sympathy, but I tell you, until the silent majority gets really fed up and gets mad and gets organized they will continue to get hosed by this government of the lawyers, by the lawyers, for the lawyers.

Government, at all levels, has only a few concerns --NONE of which focus on you: Keep their job (stay in office), increase their authority, dissolve the nation's sovereignty, and get rid of that GODD@MNED Constitution and its annoying Bill Of Rights.

The biggest bee in the government's bonnet, is concepts like this:

Yeah, it's a Wiki source, but it is a d@mned accurate definition of Popular Sovereignty.

Florida is definitely a services based job force. Union jobs are scarce. You will need to change your career to make it. I'm sorry to tell you, but that is the way it is. The good thing is that you are in Orlando which is the bestest city in the world in my humble opinion. If you are going to be out of work, that's the place to be out of work. You could be unemployed and living in Detroit. Now is that depressing or what?

I am experiencing the same thing where I llve. We have been sold out and no one is doing a damn thing. I wrote a letter to my Senator in regards as to what she planned on doing about illegal immigration. I did get a letter back stating all the stuff she was going to do, but not one word on illegal immigration. Good luck to you and thanks for going to war for we Americans.

Yours is one of 300 million stories. I think it is a mistake to look to government for anything. I prefer a "do nothing" Congress. That way, they don't screw anything up.
If you cannot find a job in Orlando, look elswhere. Try Monster.com. Post your resume.
