homosexuality was first considered a sin by Jews, before 570 B.C., than by Christians, A.D., and later by Muslims, after 730 A.D.

immoral is contrary to established moral principles so we must first define moral.

moral is a rule or habit of conduct with regard to right and wrong or a body of such rules and habits.

homosexuality and homosexual acts are NOT illegal in the United States. Since they are not illegal/wrong then they are not immoral in the eyes of the law.

Some may think that they are immoral or wrong due to their interpretation of religious writings but in the United States your religion has no bearing on law.

Edit: non_apologetic_american - do you have a proof source for your assumption that the majority think homosexuality is immoral?

I think that it is a matter of personal values as to what is moral or immoral. That being said, no one has the right to judge anyone. That is for a supreme being to decide.

Society determines social norms and mores, and these mores and norms define what is moral and immoral.

Today, the majority of people in Western society find homosexuality immoral.

The debates of choice vs. predisposition and natural vs. unnatural are moot. Whether homosexuality is natural, or unnatural, or regularly occurring in nature is not the issue and not pertinent. We have many things that occur in nature all the time (incest, killing, cannibalism, etc), and we are all predisposed to do harmful things, yet our society deems much of it immoral.

Morality changes with the time, and homosexuality is increasing in its acceptance as a choice and a lifestyle, but that doesn't change the facts:

Today, the widely held belief is that homosexuality is immoral and no one that feels that way should be ashamed or asked to apologize for anything.

It is only immoral to close minded bigots. It's not immoral to people who have a basic understanding of the way that it works. Read prior questions.

Since I learned to think with my own brain. That's when things that idiotic bigots say or think stopped being important. This was 24 years ago, when I was born! Isn't that just an awesome accomplishment?

It's never been immoral accept by religious zealots and frankly they aren't to be taken seriously anyway. By all means say what you want and speak your mind, but I must say this......I find it interesting that the so called immoral gays are the ones on the front lines in Iraq while the cowardly moral ones sit back and complain......something to think about don't you think.

Since humanity evolved enough to understand that people should not be judged on who they love but on how they impact others. Clearly we have not all evolved at the same rate. Good luck catching up.

It never has been and never will be immoral. It is perfectly normal. Neither a choice, nor disgrace, nor sin.

Judging someone elses' life is snobbish and just plain wrong. Before you start judging the 'immoral behavior' of others, take care of yours.
