Now look, I know I am overly affectionate, but calling me a dog? Isn't that going too far? Hmmm, can I hump your leg?

I feel your pain.LOL. It is annoying...When people come to our house we put the dog in his pen...Even if the visitors have a dog themselves. It's hard to chat when ya got something jumping on your midsection and licking you in the face at the same time...(we have a small dog that will jump on people when they sit down) I don't think your neighbour means to be disrespectful...because some people love dogs jumping on them ...they may like it and think you feel the same way. Your sort of between a rock and a hard place...like the neighbour hate the loony dogs...what to do? (good luck)

I hate it also. When my friends dog did that to me I would shriek and bend a knee and lift it. It startles the dog and the knee prevented it from being able to get to me. If the dog continues to claw at me, I have no qualms about saying NO in a real firm voice so that the owner knows that I don't like it.

That is annoying, and it's unnecessary for you and the dog..they need discipline just like children...Gently step on it's hind feet when it jumps, and say "down"...it should get down. If your neighbor objects to you discipling her dog, then tell her to start doing a better job.
I had 3 big dogs, and that was the first thing I taught them,,,

I love dogs too but I completely agree with you. Dogs who do that usually have morons for owners. Same as parents who let their kids run wild & just smile about it. They need discipline!

It's in the training...those dogs do not respect the owner there fore they respect no one...my smaller dog did that till I started correcting it...and now I encourage other people to feel free to tell herNO! SIT!

my dog gets excited when people come over too, if he acts like that i put him in another room and shut the door, I hate it too, maybe if you do punch the dogs, they'll get the hint.

Yes. And I remember what my Dad always said. "If you want to train a dog, you first have to be Smarter Than the Dog!!"
