I would say you need both education and experience, and you cannot say one is better than another. People say experience is a good teacher. I do agree, because by experiencing something you can see, feel, smell, touch, etc. so that you may understand better. But do not underestimate education, because experience is a speechless teacher. You cannot expect it explain clearly to you. You must interpret the lesson. As a result, you will do many 'trial and error' cycles, and it might cost you a lot of money, effort, and time. You need somebody who can explain to you, share his experience to you, and guide you. It is a good shortcut for your learning process, although you cannot shortcut the whole process. It is said that wise men learn from others' experience, ordinary men learn from their own experience, and foolish men never learn from experience. You need two wings to fly.

It should be experience. Education is book knowledge and anyone can read a book. If you have experience, you can help someone do something. You can give examples of how and why something happens.
