I placed an ad in a local paper for a faucet I'm selling and this person emailed me the following:

i will be buying
item and i will like to tell you that i will be paying
with a check in us dollars and as for the shippinpment
my shipper will come for the pick up at your location
upon your confirmation of receiving the payment. I
want to get you inform that the shipper money will be
added to the payment to enable him come over to your
place, since am not around. If you are okay with that
kindly give the underlisted information ask from you.
I dont want you to look for any other buyer. i would
have love to come downfor the pick up.But am not
chance to do that now but am satisfy with your
description of the item i will like you to give me
the following so
that your payment can be made and send
you.

Then he asked for lots of info - does this seem shady to you?

What does he want to do with all this information if he is the buyer? Why can't he come and collect it himself? Too many unanswered and strange questions. Better ignore this person and find another buyer.

Seems like an attempt to steal your identity.

Sorry, but your question is incomplete without the under-listed information that was mentioned, so I really can't answer the question.

I sell on eBay. Most of the time I ship the items to my buyers, but I have sold a few items that were too big to ship, so I listed them for local sales only and arranged for the buyers to pick the items up at my house.

In order to arrange for a local pickup like that you need to give your buyer's the address where they can pick up the item, and it's a good idea to provide them with a phone number to contact you in case they get lost or something comes up and they can't make it. If you are a female and live alone, you might want to have a male friend around when the buyer comes to pick up the item. As far as which phone number to give out any number will do as long as it also has voice mail on it that does not indicate you are not home, when it picks up. Your buyer does not need any more personal information other than this information.

Yes very.. since he is asking for lots of personal info, like his 'shipper' might be anyone... if you have been in a recent argument with anyone, don't think twice. this seems very shady. if you want to actually sell something SAFELY, i suggest amazon. Or maybe even EBay.

In short i suggest you don't give this person the info and decline the offer. I would also suggest no phone numbers. Tracing is possible...

This is the line that should be a red flag: "my shipper will come for the pick up at your location"

Do not, no matter what, sell to this person. Reply that the item has been sold and no further communication is required. If you receive further communication, report it as spam, block the email address and dump.
