Depends on what type of thyroid condition your taking about. Hypothyroidism is treated with medication (synthryoid) and yes if it goes untreated it does effect your body, your metabolism and hormones. As far as mentally, well your extremely fatigues all of the time.

Hyperthyroidism it effects the body most are very thin and very active in some cases over active.

As far as being stubborn and not want to seek treatment it has nothing to do with a thyroid condition. Some people are afraid to be treated or just don't like to take medication. This is usually due to personal opinion and or religious beliefs. I hope this answers some of your questions. If you want hard facts you can go to www.webmd.com and look up hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism to get the full details.

Endocrinologist treat thyroid conditions, all you have to do is take a pill once a day. It can lead to long term health affects if left untreated. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to take care of it.
