Oh yeah we have a room where we have had to just throw stuff in to b/c of short notice company.

Of course! i've even put the unwashed dishes from the previous night into the oven to get them out of the way, just in case said guest wants to go into the kitchen. I think everyone has done something similar at one time or another.

No, for two reasons...first, neither my gf or I like to have a lot of "stuff", so there's not much danger of things getting really messy to begin with, and second, our friends know us well enough to know what to expect.
Besides, we've been told by many that they come to see us, not our apartment

lol...yes. Clothes, toys, etc. When I'm done I feel like I've put in a two hour work out in 10 minutes.

Oh yeah, especially if my pad is really REALLY messy. I just shove everything into my cabinet or whatever nook there is I could find lol.
