they cover you with a sheet. the doctor will check you under neat. while you areactualy pushing the baby out i do not know. at that point all you can think about is pushing the baby out. when you start thinking about it again you see you are covered.

There is a whole lot of exposure going on that day! Being checked is like the most modest you'll get. My doc always left me covered and just slipped a hand under the blanket. It was the nurses that whipped off the sheet and spread me, lol. Catheters may be inserted, which I found embarassing, but have since become accustomed to. I never made it to the pushing part, but I seriously think that I won't care by that time. Best of luck to you.

90% are exposed to the world.
Most OB midwives do not need the sheet in the way.
It is not a time to be shy that is for sure.
I made a mistake and had 15 interns watching me on my last birth.
I was asked do you mind we have rounds and they would like to know if they can watch at the door. I said sure being my third I had no shame. Well it ended up being 60% men and they were the main ones crying. i figured maybe 5 tops would watch.
And with all the births i attended as a doula not one was covered.

During a vaginal delivery, they cover your bottom area with a sheet/blanket. You have your feet up in the stirrups & they cover you to your knees. They do their best to provide as much privacy as possible for you. You can stay all the way covered up while laboring, except when they check you & from my experience, they would always just look under the sheet just enough to check you for dialation. They never removed the sheet all the way.

During most of your labor you will be covered (except when they are checking you). But when you are pushing the sheet/blanket will more than likely go bye bye. It gets in the way, trust me when I say you are not going to care, at that point the only thing you will care about is getting to baby out. I think I actually tossed the sheet aside myself once....

By the time you are pushing you probably won't really care who sees what. You are so swept up in the moment of what is going on and working so hard to get that baby out!

You are exposed, we can all see your tutu. Trust me, been there, done that, got the t-shirt. You won't care. I've been at the birth of all my children. No matter how cute that thing was nine months ago, when you are giving birth it's not pretty. Fascinating, but not pretty, I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Besides they have seen hundreds, if not thousands of them. My ex, pushed so hard she defecated, I was way more embarrassed than her, shes like, who cares, just get this thing out of me.LOL
