Okay, while Super Sonic is basically a super version of Sonic, his powers is only for a limited time (how much rings he got gameplay wise or how long is needed story wise).
If Sonic want to go against Super Sonic, he need to wait till Super Sonic is no longer in super mode.
The problem is that once Super Sonic is no longer in super mode, he become regular Sonic.
So it become Sonic versus Sonic.
For Sonic versus Sonic, see Sonic versus Metal Sonic.
The Sonic the Hedgehog CD, Sonic the Hedgehog two parts OVA series, and Sonic Heroes already focused on the subject.
Power and speed wise Super Sonic is stronger and faster than regular Sonic.
If Sonic was unable to hide, Super Sonic will defeat Sonic.
Don't worry the designers always provide him a place to hide while he prepared his counter attack.
Anyway. Isn't like now there are too many Sonic variations?
Metal Sonic, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Silver the Hedgehog.
I mean that Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Silver the Hedgehog can already made a team of their own in Sonic Heroes as Team Hedgehog with their own speed character (Sonic), flight character (Silver), and power character (Shadow).
Considering that each came from different time, it would be cute to find out they came from the same family. Shadow could have been cloned based on Sonic's ancestor either direct or indirect, while Sonic could have been Silver's ancestor either direct or indirect.
If Sonic is a direct ancestor of Silver as unlikely as it is, then it might be interesting. Whether Amy Rose scream out of joy or despair, that's another matter.

Super sonic as its the same sonic except he's super charged.

Super sonic coz he he is sonic and super mode, its like in dbz when they change into saiyans tats how super sonic looks like to me!
