Prez Bush would want someone who understands the necessity of continuing the war on terror, who understands the necessity of having a continued presence in Afghanistan and Iraq, and who understands the necessity of opposing Iran's nuclear ambitions.
This would be paramount in his concerns about his successor.

What difference does it make who Bush wants? He can't appoint anyone!
The question should be, "Who do WE want?"
The pickin's are rather slim for this go-'round.

I honestly don't think he cares. He's not really into politics - just working for the firm. Remember, this is a guy who doesn't do newspapers.
He will be riding his mountain bike, clearing brush and partaking in a wee bit of gold no doubt. That's his plan.
