a) if you add 100 cc, the total volume of the solution will be 1.1L as S(ether) /(Swater) =25 and the volume of ether is 1/10 of water the ratip

mass dissolved in ether/mass dissolved in water
is =25*0.1/10=2.5

so x = 10*2.5/3.5 = 7.14g

b) you have the same ratio

m(in ether) /mass (water) =(50/1000)*25= 1.25

and the ratio is 1.25/2.25 = 0.556

and you extract 5.56g of x

In the water there remains 10-5.56 =4.45g

if you repeat you extract again 4.45 *5/9 = 2.47g

so you have extracted 4.45+2.47= 7.92g

Much more effective
