I asked some questions about Kosovo independence recently and some of the answers really saddened me..
I'm aware of the history of the hatred..and don't want to know the reasons why Serbs hate Albanians and vice versa (again!)
But want to know if Serbs and Albanians will be able to get along. HOW? and WHEN?
I would especially appreciate answers from Albanians (esp from Kosovo) and Serbs.
Preferably those who can manage one sentence about the other without calling them pimps and drug dealers.

Ether# Yes they did..before 100 years ago no problems, even in famous Serbian battle in 1389 Albanians fought along side Serbians against the turks

Sadly, it's like everywhere in the Balkans... as I write this, somewhere a child is sitting on his mothers or parents lap being told about crimes of the enemy in the last war...so the cycle of violence will carry on.
Regarding Serbians and Albanians, it's going to take a long time to put their mutual history behind them...it will take education, and well-meaning reasonable polititians to stand up and shake one another's hands...plus perhaps a truth and reconciliation commission like they have in South Africa, and Rwanda.
We have to remember, there is incredible history between these people...and it's not going to go away.
I got a good perspective on the Balkans from the excellent book by the British Officer serving with the UN in Bosnia (Trusted Mole by Milos Stankovic) - he had Serbian grandparents I think. I highly recommend this book to anyone for a (basic) understanding of the Bosnian Holocaust...

curiously some tribes 3000 years in the past could have been Albanian and lived on kosovo. that's why albanians opt for it. however the humorous ingredient is Albania replaced into declared a united states of america in 1944 so how could desire to there have been albanians 3000 years in the past? Its a cluster fu*ok

Yesterday I read an interview online that said the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovar Albanians confirmed that he and his rebel army committed crimes against humanity. They deliberately ethnically cleansed Kosovo of the Serbs for the last 50 years intentionally so they can form their own country because they hate Albania and do not consider Albania their country.
I don't think the two peoples will be capable of living together.

No never get along, only to tolerate because there isn't any other solution. Get friends etc. - no way.

I think that eventually once the Albanians of Kosovo are assured their human rights and basic freedoms (they will never trust Belgrade with this task) then. We will see peace.
