Ask your Filipina wife.

It's HOT all year round. It IS a tropical country after all. The best time for you to visit is from December to February. That's when it's coolest -- 18 to 20 degrees Centigrade in the mornings and around 27-31 degrees at midday.

Don't come during the summer season (March to May). Temperatures reach as high as 36 degrees C. It's awesome weather for beach lovers but not for someone who's really bothered by hot weather.

As for the rainy season (June-November)... well, sometimes it does get a bit cooler compared to summer, but oftentimes also much more humid. Besides, travel may become a hassle. Monsoon rains may cause flight cancellations and many city streets are prone to flooding.

You may also opt to stay at cooler cities such as Baguio (temp is probably around 20-25 degrees C during summer) or Tagaytay.

I suggest that you have an airconditioner installed into a room of your wife's relative's house, or whichever house you prefer to stay in whenever you go to the Philippines so that you won't have to fret about hotel bookings and such. If you still prefer to stay at a hotel there are many others aside from the Penn that don't cost as much yet the services are equally good. You may want to try the Discovery Suites in Pasig City. I stayed there before and was generally satisfied. Rooms start at around 90 USD, my room had kitchen facilities, and it's located right in front of a very chill shopping mall.

Hope you have fun on your next visit. :-)

Everyday is the best time to visit the Philippines.

But now back to your real question. Why are you not getting a hotel with A/C? There should be plenty of Hotels or Pension houses available for reasonable pricing. I'd guess you could find a Pension House with A/C for probably $10-$15/night. A decent Hotel for $15 to $40/night. But you'll have to do some searching on the internet, and ask friends and family in the Philippines to help you find them.

What part of ******? Dumaguete? If so, check out this website http://www.dumagueteinfo.com/dumaguete-hotels.php

If you want it cold, you can visit the Philippines from October to December (since it's the Holiday season... surprisingly, it was really cold here even in January... But, I think it's because the winds from Siberia were directed here). If you're a beach person, you can go around April and May since that's summer. Since you mentioned that you don't like the heat, you can go here around June, or July. That's when the rainy season starts. So, the weather should be better. Or sometime August.

This is a tropical country so there are no pronounced seasons. It's always hot and humid no matter when you go, but avoid the summer vacation months because that's when the weather gets warmest (March to May).

There are many hotels in Makati that will not charge as much as the Peninsula does. We tried Copa Businessmen's Hotel along Arnaiz St. last year and it was really good, clean, reasonably priced.

Enjoy your next trip. Bring only light clothing and short pants.

The Philippines is hot and humid year-round.
The weather pattern across the archipelago is complex, but can be roughly divided into the dry season (September to May) and the wet season (June to September).
There is little seasonal variation in most places with average highs and lows of around 31°C (87°F) and 24°C (76°F) respectively.

The best time to visit is between December and May when slightly cooler and drier conditions prevail. (--,)

The rainy season begins June down to October. There are lots of affordable and convenient hotels that you can stay with. The rates in Makati area are from P2,300 to US$130. In Manila from P1,800 to US$100. Or its better you stay in Tagaytay, Banaue or Baguio. Thats the coolest place in the Philippines You can contact JLT Travel at (632) 3631139 or 3657602 for hotel recommendation & special discounted rates.

It is always warm in the Philippines, even during the rainy or monsoon season. September is the end of rainy season and maybe the best time to go to your wife's province. You may have the chance to enjoy the beach and other places with a bit cooler temperature.

As a Filipino, i felt like January to February has a cold wheather in my country. I remember using hot and cold water for bathing during these months. Though its been said that its cold during rainy seasons, its only cold when raining and temperature is hot again after the rain lol! You can find good 3 star hotels in makati and manila area which are just fair in price. I am a travel agent here and i can send you choices of hotel to stay with nice rooms , clean facilities and fair price, of course AC. Pls send mail to cyntsss@yahoo.com

If you don't feel like asking your wife, I can tell you to avoid June through September since it tends to be rainy season. I prefer January through May since it tends to be drier, and school is out, which means that all of the family will be around when you visit.

I always worry that I'll catch some respiratory illness because I'm breathing moist air w/ pathogens I'm not used to beathing in the States. I managed not to get sick on my last trip, but I always seem to pick something up on every trip previous, and always worry about the kids picking something up. Just a hazard of the trip, but nothing to get scared about.

Heat will always be an issue, esp in Manila. Take it easy, drink water, be judicious about going in and out of A/C buildings.

Consider visiting/staying in Tagaytay City - the weather is cool and comfortable all year long. I worked there for several years (DAPConCen) and really fell in love with the place.

I heard the tourism industry there has more to offer now...I heard of such places as Chateau Royale Resort and Caleruega. You might want to check it out.

Nice of you to visit your wife's home country. Mabuhay!

Enjoy and have a wonderful time...stick with bottled water!
