I have an hp 533w desktop that has 2 usb ports on the front--but they seem to have stopped working--any suggestions?

Restart the system and enter the BIOS setuo before Windows starts. Check your devices and verify that USB is enable in BIOS. If you have USB ports on the rear of the system and they are still working, the cable from the front ports may be unplugged or bad.

Check the Device Settings; Try Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager; see if the USB Controller has a little Yellow mark against it. If it does, redo the Driver.
If no Yellow Mark, go into Safe Mode, check the same items.
Look for that Yellow Mark. If it is there, not too good.
Anyways, either way Reboot. And try and redo the USB drivers. Test with a few different USB units. Once you have Confirmed it is dead, either get the Port replaced, or see if you can put in a Cheap, but still good USB Card from Compusa

I don't have the same computer but the same thing has been happening to me. I have just restarted my computer and it seems to work. If not check your drivers and maybe you don't have the proper one's to support your device set up so you need to get new ones.
