I am no fan of the iraq war or anything, but i do believe in the first amendment. this is about freedom of religion. It is against christianity to condone homosexuality. Will Gen. Pace get in trouble? why would he? why is he being demonized so much? the Anti-Defamation league would have him put in a concentration camp if they had their way.

now it is the other way around. Those who do not believe in the first amendment would put christians in concentration camps. and YOU need to learn more about christianity. We are not to condone homosexuality. It's in the old testament, and yes, christians do read the old testament.

But, every time he said something about homosexuals, he said "it is my opinion," etc, he made sure to do this. I know the setting may not have been right to say this, but he was just putting his opinion in, off the record.

The vast silent majority of Americans when honestly polled agree with him. The loud angry well funded minority will, of course, raise unmitigated hell with impunity about it. And the left wing propganda machine will make a mountainous issue of the whole affair because it is politically incorrect to state any opinion contrary to their entrenched agenda opinions. Same old tune, umpteenth verse.

I agree with you somewhat. The exception is that General Pace is only quoting Christian principles coincidentally while actually quoting Code of Military Justice (COMJ).
Homosexuality and adultery are both violations of the COMJ and military personnel are subject to courts martial for violating the military's legal statutes.
The only reason this is even news is that the liberal press couldn't wait to portray Gen. Pace, and indirectly the Bush administration, as being right wing religous zelots. To prove the point, you might notice no one asked General Pace if the military still prosecutes thieves nor how many such individuals have been prosecuted for such activity. The point the press is making is that we should simply accept a mental illness, which homosexuality is, and those that don't are backward redneck idiots.

I for one agree wholeheartedly with Gen. Pace and he's from my home town Brooklyn to boot. Homosexuality is immoral and he has every right to say so. This used to be a free country last I looked where people could disagree on a variety of social issues openly. But not anymore. NOW, you're called names and demonized for speaking your beliefs. I wonder how the gay advocacy group would like it if someone was trying to shut them up. You can't have it both ways, it's either freedom for all or freedom for none.

I haven't been paying close attention lately. Tell me, is his
real name Peter Pace? That is too funny.
No, I wouldn't put him or Christians in a concentration camp.
And do think it would be very interesting if every gay person
in the military would resign. Maybe then, Some people
would realize the value of their contributions to this country.
Your ignorance & judgemental attitude towards the gay
community is disturbing.

It is funny how so many people believe they should have rights to freedom of speech yet when one shows standards or some kind of morals or religious beliefs, this is where many want to silence those who they disagree with. There are rules in the military,if people dont want to live by the rules, they need not enlist instead of crying about being stereotyped.

Jesus also said "judge not lest ye be judged". It is not our place to condone (or not condone) certain activities. It IS our responsibility to "love thy neighbor". Love and intolerance are not compatible.
Many "Christians" forget that Jesus came to give us a "New Way". This doesn't mean to forget the Old Testament, just that "love" must guide our actions.
For the truly moral Christians, it’s not about reward and punishment. Not hurting other people, loving and being kind to your enemies, treating and loving others as you would like to be treated and loved, sharing, tolerance, understanding, in fact all of the teachings of Jesus, all boil down to one basic concept - love .
Is it possible to love thy neighbor while not living with other people in peace and concord, but on the contrary, maintaining hatred, envy, and malice towards others, instigating quarrels, brawls, and distress among others?
No.
General Pace is entitled to his opinion. Attempting to force his religious doctrine on others while being paid to protect and uphold the Constitution is a different matter. That's my opinion.

An unintentionally-ironic posting.
Firstly, it is not 'against Christianity' to condone homosexuality. You need to learn a bit more about Christianity.
Secondly, the ones who have historically put people in concentration camps are those who have had an anti-homosexual viewpoint.

Because that's the way of the left. They have no tolerance for anyone who doesn't agree with them and they are afraid to enter into honest debate so they demonize. Just look at some of the postings on this site and you'll see what I mean. Leftys are the most bigoted, intolerant people around.

This has nothing to do with free speech. People who choose to make unwarrented and bigoted remarks are free to do so. But they also are then stuck with the fact that decent people also have freedom of speech--and will use tha tfreedom to criticize such bigotry.
I've noticed that every time some narrow-minded jerk insults others and gets criticized for it, they always start whining about their "freedom of speech." No one is questioning that. But what these scum really want is to beable to escape the public condemnation they so richly deserve. Pace should resign his commission--we don't need bigots representing the United States and certainly not in positions of responsibility in our military.
