My boyfriend and I live overseas and spend most of our time travelling. For this reason, we have NO savings (even though we are both professionals) because we blow it all on traveling.

Now we are starting to think about settling down and starting a family, but since we are from different countries it is hard to think of a good way to decide what will be good for us both. At the moment, the plan is to live in a couple of more countries to find one we like, but I'm starting to think that will mean another 5 years before we wind up buying a house.

Has anyone been in a similar position before? How did you decide where and how to start settling down?

I'm from the states and my husband is from Kuwait. We decided to live in Kuwait because life here is easier than in the states and the benefits Kuwaitis receive from the government far outway the lack of benefits we would receive in the states. You have to decide what you want as far as, how you want to raise your childre, if and when you have some, what the lifestyle is in the country you choose, and if you have plenty of job opportunities there are for both of you.

As long as you're truly into each other ANYTHING can be achieved. This is my personal belief. It is too hard and will be full of personal details, so it is not to be settled here. I just can wish you a good luck, but I believe it can turn out to be great.
