I think old James put one over on us by embellishing his memoirs. However that isnt the worst thing he did. He went on Oprah and got the "Oprah bump" by becoming one of her book club books - all the while knowing he was lying - and thereby sold about 20 times the books he would have sold without Oprah sitting there in tears listening to him and telling people how amazing his story was. That was deceptive dishonest and disgusting and I wouldnt read anything by him ever. He lied to become a best seller. Case closed.

It's a very good book that's helped to change the lives of many alcoholics. The problem with it is that it was passed off as non-fiction, but on research, it seems that the author fabricated much of what's contained in the text. This somewhat diminished the book in the eyes of many readers.
Still, the message of the book has been important to many, so I'd rate it a 7.

I certainly have examine it. i think of the final element which you will do is seem up the definitions of all the literary units listed and be certain which 3 are maximum precious. Write an beginning paragraph explaining your possibilities, a internet site for to describe each of your 3 possibilities, and a final paragraph. there is plenty to artwork with in that e book (besides the reality that it is not certainly a memoir.) EDIT - i think of you ought to narrow down your concentration in the past inquiring for brainstorming recommendations. i'm not sure even the place to start to make innovations - there are too many opportunities.

well if take it just as a book of fiction its great I guess maybe a 5 but then when you learn that since its nonfiction and he maybe parts up it make you just a little less interested in it. But the hype behind this should not diminish the book itself and how it really help people understand the addicts life.

It should have been published as fiction. I couldn't bring myself to read it once I learned that the author had been dishonest about presenting his "story" as factual. Perhaps it could have worked well as a novel, but trying to pretend it was all true took away its value.

To be honest, I haven't been able to read it once I found out about his fabrications. I think that really diminished the book in my eyes.
