She may not be commander-in-chief, but she isn't fighting for this change.

And, Hillary has NOT said that she will overturn it.

NEWS FLASH: Democrats will do and say anything to get your vote. Once they get the power they crave, it's a different story! Your question is proof. And if I were a liberal who voted democrat last November, I'd be wondering when all these sweeping changes they talked about are going to start now that we're in the middle of MARCH!!

Well, as a Liberal I have to say that "Dont ask, Dont Tell" clearly doesnt work.

And I wouldnt have thought that Sen Clinton or Speaker Pelosi are "ashamed" of gays. Pelosi represents one of the most liberal districts in the US so she doesnt need to worry too much about what is thought of her by the gay community, one way or the other.

As for Sen Clinton, she has to appeal to the middle to get elected. I think she'll end up moving to the left if she wins the white-house in 2008

Gays make up less than 2% of the US population. That's too little for the dems to care about.

Besides, why should it be overturned. Wake up America. Homosexuality is a mental illness. See link.

The Don't Ask..Don't Tell policy is not because people in the military are homophoebic.
There have been gay people in the military since day one. The reason the government was always against it was that as recently as 20 some years ago...people remained in the closet for fear of losing their jobs, family, status in the community etc.
Being Gay, gave enemies (such as the Russians back in the cold war) something to bribe a person with (letting their preference be known). With that hanging over their head, the government was afraid they'd steal and pass on secrets to enemy countries...all to be safe from being outted.

It's not longer the stigma it once was. I don't think they should continue with this policy. People should be able to be honest about their sexual preference. If they are honest to the government, they sure wouldn't allow that issue to be used against them to force them to sell secrets.

"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" was implemented out of necessity...because of the small mindedness that still exists in the United States. And the last time I checked, the right had not opened its mind too much regarding the rights of the gay community....so it should stand. Unless, of course, all the homophobic citizens would like to replace the gay soldiers.

Hopefully she recognizes the destruction of aberrant behaviors on our society and she is doing what she can to protect our society.
