I consider myself to be good and I also find myself being lonely, somewhat. This worries me.

Mark Twain was a brilliant orator, author, etc. I am sure to some extent, he was talking about himself. He may have been lonely in his thinking, since he was so far ahead of most other intellectual beings of the time. I would imagine it to be a timeless "flaw". As for myself, I feel like I am alone alot, but not lonely, and I am definitely a good and decent person. Having said that, people can take advantage of good people. I guess it will all depend on your spirituality and God's wrath.

Do not be concerned.

I am the Godfather. I help those people that come to me only when all else fails for them.

I'm essentially the last of the "Good Guys".

Good people, that makes others happy, are the lonely ones.

That was the intent of Mark's meaning.

It was "Be good and you will be lonely"

I have 2 theories so take your pick....
He was such a quirky and weird guy I think he meant just what Billy Joel did "I would rather laugh with sinners than cry with saints". Being too good will make you think you are too good for others.
Or he could mean that being brillant could have people put you on a pedestal in which it can be very high and very lonely.

It could mean that good people who put rightious things before themselves and others are typically lonely because of it. But they are good for what they stand for.
I don't know.
I personally believe that being alone if you are strong is a good thing, you don't define yourself by who your with. But if you are weak it consumes you and will rip you apart.
