Vanity kills. I've seen anorexics and it's really sad that the media makes being unnaturaly skinny the norm when it comes to clothes and modeling. I don't watch TV for that. I'm a big boned guy with wide shoulders and I don't fit my normal weight according to standards. I admit I do have some extra weight but It's stupid to think these standards apply to everyone when there are hundreds of races and cultures in this country. And to make an average normal weight and size according to demographics is unfair to everyone. Besides population evolves as races keep mixing and then, what will be normal in the next 20 years? I digress.

Back to the answer. I don't like skin and bones. I like some meat on women. Gives me something to hang onto.

Men do in fact like women with some sort of substance to them. Who wants to snuggle up to skin and bones only? Not my man, I know that for sure. However, I believe women strive to be the smallest we can be because we are hardest on ourselves and other women as well. Growing up I was always the tall scrawny girl, but when I had kids that changed. Still tall, but not so scrawny now. Since that time I've been up and down on the scales, and most of the time it's due to someone making some crack about my "fat ass", or that they've never seen a double chin on me before. Makes you very self-concious.

However, I am pleased with me on the inside, and the one thing I say to whoever is childish enough to complain about my body in whatever form is "If you don't like me, look the other direction".

A lot of it has to be from women's magazines promoting merchandise for people who are thin, and television, how often lately have you seen any larger women on shows such as Days of our Lives, Home and Away, Neighbours, the Bold and the Beautiful? I don't think shows such as Temptation Island and the [Insert country] Next Top Model helps at all either.
People act out thigs a lot on television when they see that and think that is the only way a boy would like them, instead of realising that they shouldn't care being the way they are.

what men want and what they stare at are not the same and we confuse these two with each other. they stare at the size 0 but like to have a size 4.

I think it's because a lot of women are overweight so most of them have this idea engrained into their head that they need to diet or lose weight and they don't know when to stop, they just keep going until it becomes unhealthy, that's where anorexia starts.

Size 0...what is that? My foot is bigger,,,I think the few women that do aspire to be that thin, do it for society, not a specific man....they usually have the personality to match...

That is who the fashion industry says looks the best. Though that is not who most men say looks the best.

women are fierce competitors, they always want to look better, weigh less, have a better guy etc etc etc then other women. And least that is how it seems from the outside looking in.

Because marketers and hollywood drive it into your head you need to be super small, have lots of plastic surgery, wear lots of makeup, because you just aren't pretty unless you are spending all of your money!
