Eggs evolved millions of years before chickens. But, if the question is what came first, the chicken egg or the chicken, then the answer is the chicken. Remember that evolution is an accretion of mutations. Thus, when the proto-chicken laid an egg containing the first chicken, it was a proto-chicken egg. The first chicken then hatched and IT'S eggs were the first chicken eggs.

The chicken. It would have to have evolved form another creaute to the chicken, a bird that layes eggs. The egg would have had to come from somewhere so the chicken must have come first. I know some would say how did the chicken get there without first being laid but the bird would have to evolve to an egg layer from another species first.
If you see what i mean.

i think it the egg case if a chicken is say a cross bread with 2 other animals of similar apperence then they had 2 lay the egg to get the chicken

it is totally proven that the "egg" came first... and is explained as thus....
the question does not ask "what type of egg".. it just asks about an egg... therfore any egg will do, pertaining to the question.
Thus said, dinasour type critters were around well before the chicken evolved... therefore prehistoric dinasour type eggs were definetely around prior to the chicken...
therefore the EGG CAME FIRST

if u want a teological point of view...if u know the story about Noah's ark,God said that 2 of all animals (female and male) should go into the ark...so,thats what happend and it doesnt say anywhere that 2 eggs are walking into the ark :)) God created animals and people,he did not create an embrio or fetus that grew...and like that he didn't create an egg and wait for the chicken to hatch...
